Crafting NIO Cocktails’ Recipe for Success in Digital PR

The Challenge

Last year, the brand found their homepage, bundle product pages, and blogs were getting the majority of their organic traffic—but not necessarily the highest-converting pages.

After a short break with SEO we wanted to pick up where we left off – improving the technical aspects of the website, whilst also working on the backlink profile pointing to it. 

We wanted to ensure we weren’t letting competitors get ahead in referring domains.

Our Strategy

We conducted an opportunity analysis on the website to identify where to build backlinks.

By analysing areas with the most potential for organic growth and ROI, we identified certain product listing pages and collections would be most effective.

After this we:

  • Focused on content related to target pages, making it logical for journalists to link back.
  • Analysed and prioritised competitor backlink gaps.
  • Targeted new high-quality domains not secured by competitors.
  • Created a target list of new domains to build the backlink profile.

The Results

Giving us creative freedom to build backlinks and raise awareness for their innovative cocktails was the way forward, and as a result, we surpassed our 2023 link target by 164%. 23 were pointed toward target product pages we were aiming to improve, and 18 were to collection pages.   • 84% increase in unique referring domains from last March to June.
    • NIO Cocktails has more referring domains than competitors.
    • Focus on quality backlinks led to more Tier 1 (DR 70+) and Tier 2 (DR 50-70) links than all other competitors.
    • 616 keywords ranking in positions 1-5, a 52% YoY increase from 322.
    • 372% increase in visibility over the past year.
