Starting a new job can be daunting for anyone, but eCommerce roles present unique challenges. There's an overwhelming amount to grasp: multiple stakeholders, external partners, company dynamics and culture, tech stacks, channel performance, and an extensive range of products and SKUs and that's just the beginning.

So, we reached out to a handful eCommerce leaders, including Alexandra Grecoe, DTC Manager at Mayborn Group, and Diego Fria, eCommerce Director at Jaded London, how they approached the first 30, 60 and 90 days in their new roles. This spans a 3-month period, which is typically a probation period for most standard roles.

What’s Your 30/60/90?

We’ve compiled all this information into a single, downloadable guide to support you in your new role from the start to end of your probation, or as you transition between roles in the same company, even if you’re staying put but seek to enhance the value you bring to your team at any level.

To offer a sneak peak into what you can expect from the guide, alongside key themes such as building relationships, cross-functional collaboration and long-term vision, we’ve highlighted some of our favourite takeaways below!

“Look for those quick wins that your experience can bring you, but see who runs what, what the issues are and what is expected of you.”

“Building relationships is essential before diving headfirst into the work.”

“I seek opportunities to work with different departments to understand how my role supports broader company goals and projects.”

“Spend time with your customer service teams—actually answer the phones!”

“Keep asking "why" and investigating how things work.”

A massive thank you to the eCommerce leaders that contributed to this guide, and shared directly from their experiences:

  • Alexandra Grecoe - DTC Manager at Mayborn Group (Tommee Tippee )
  • Gareth Crew - Social Media and Digital Communications Lead, Canon EMEA
  • Jake Newbould - Head of Digital at Sarah Raven
  • Diego Fria - eCommerce Director at Jaded
  • Danny Power - Head of Digital at Casio + Gshock
  • Geeta Randev - Senior Digital Marketing Manager, EMEA Champion Europe

We also sat down with Diego, eCommerce Director, at Jaded London and Jake, Head of Digital at Sarah Raven, recently on our podcast, eCom Sessions. Diego’s thoughts were particularly interesting, explaining he’d like to be in a place to compile a 3-month roadmap within the first 90-days of a new role, which you can listen to in the download.
