Head of Digital PR

Overall Job Purpose

Reporting directly to the Client Services Director, you will be responsible for leading and growing our existing and future PR team to the next level. 

 

The Head of Digital PR will hold the overall responsibility for the effectiveness of the PR service, the efficiency of delivery and meeting business targets for growing the department’s overall revenue contribution to the agency.  This includes a clear view on how we should evolve & develop our proposition and approach as a result in order to stay ahead of the curve in the industry.

 

You will be the leader of the Digital PR team internally, working to train the team & implement processes for effective delivery, identifying and filling skill gaps, and driving innovation within the role.

 

You will work closely with the Head of SEO, & Content Lead in order to ensure our SEO campaigns are truly aligned to the strategic needs of a client, delivering a combined SEO strategy and working together collaboratively.

Your Accountabilities

  • Overall responsibility for the quality and performance of all Digital PR work delivered by the agency.
  • Take a strategic lead on top tier client accounts and lead in the evaluation of the effectiveness of campaigns & link building tactics across the PR team
  • Share and be hungry for finding new industry-leading best practices
  • Work with the Senior Leadership Team and other management leads across the business to create the best possible strategy and methods of delivery
  • Lead the creation of processes and championing implementation within the agency
  • Responsible for the PR team’s overall growth and objectives, including building strategies and projects around growth and efficiency, and evaluating the effectiveness
  • Responsible for overall management and wellbeing of the PR team
  • Take a lead in the recruitment process for the Digital PR team including screening CVs and candidates, planning the need for extra recruitment and making job offers
  • Responsible for maintaining the upkeep of team training 
  • Work with sales team on new business pitches, being the face of the Digital PR team for NOVOS
  • Best practice champion around implementation and delivery of all PR work
  • Consider and be mindful of team wellbeing, ensuring people are getting job satisfaction within the PR team
  • Act as a higher contact for top tier clients investing in Digital PR and represent the PR team at key strategic meetings
  • The final sign off of all platinum-level client growth plans and strategy
  • Be the point of contact for escalation both internally and from clients
  • Ensure resource and utilisation are high functioning with a clear profitability mindset
  • Champion team progression and spotting opportunities and talent
  • Ensure business KPIs are being met within the PR team
  • Onboarding new starters with the operations team
  • Be a culture leader within the agency 

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Digital PR, ideally within an SEO agency
  • Experience working in an agency environment managing multiple accounts and campaigns simultaneously.
  • eCommerce/retail PR experience desired
  • A game-changing knowledge of Digital PR and its function within SEO 
  • Great organisational skills 
  • A proactive self-starter, able to identify issues and find solutions autonomously
  • Experience of managing a team with evidence of nurturing and training team members 
  • Excellent Digital PR results and case studies 
  • Long term visionary, the ability to plan and strategise for the future over short term wins
  • Evidence of thought leadership
  • An eye for detail
  • The ability to give feedback to all stakeholders within the agency 
  • A team player, willing to share knowledge and discuss approaches and tactics but also able to work independently.
  • Experience running campaigns from initial ideation, through managing asset build, promotion, and reporting.
